Arc Maker Kit
Create an arc across a board without a compass or making a hole in the workpiece to use a nail and string.
How To: Draw an Arc
Using these solid wood cleats and flexible bar you’ll be able to draw an arc across any board, without having to use a compass or poke a hole for a nail and string. It’s easy and repeatable. A single clamp holds it in place and doesn’t leave any marks on your workpiece. Use this on your actual workpiece or use it to make a template on mdf or plywood.
The cleats are 7″ x 1 3/4″ x 3/4″ and finished with teak oil. The notch is cut 7/8″ deep to give enough grab of the bar but also work unimpeded for 3/4″ material. For thinner material, just stack it atop of material until it is even with or above the notch line.
The bar is made of 1/8″ 3-ply baltic birch plywood and spans 19″ x 1 1/2″. It has a center mark wood-burned onto one face. Unfinished – to allow your own markings.
This arc kit works best on wider widths (10″+), though a thinner bar will allow more deflection to work across narrow widths.
